Genital HerpesVirus

The family of viruses known as herpesviridae are a group of viruses that have a certain characteristic: they posses a central core with a double chain of DNA and a greasy cover. This DNA chain has 8 types of different viruses which have similar characteristics when we talk about their structure, they cause many diseases and require different treatments. Its diameter is 160 mm.

The word herpes comes from Greek language and means “crawl”, this microbe was cultivated in 1925 for the first time.
We call, in ordinary terms, herpes simplex to the HSV type 1 and type 2.

Herpes simplex type 1 (also called labial or oral):

This type of herpes is the most common and fast disease to get, it may affect at least the 50% of developed nations. The common symptoms are the gingivoestomatitis and pharyngitis in cases where the person has, his or her first contact with the virus.
But in case of labial herpes, we can assert that this herpes tends to reactivates itself very often. It shows an ulcerous damage which starts with blisters placed somewhere in the mouth (see pictures), it also may causes known symptoms such us temperature, deep pain along the muscles, etc.

Herpes simplex type 2 (vaginal or genital):

Genital herpes causes pain, itch, pain when the person has to urinate and swells up the area near the groin, it doesn’t matter if we talk about men or women, herpes in penis or in the vagina. It also shows local damages that can be observed in different shapes at the same time: blisters, ulcers and pimples (see pictures). According to what we know nowadays the cause of the genital herpes is the herpes virus type 2, the last reports have affirmed that the effect of herpes type 2 is very similar to the effect that the herpes type 1 can produce. That’s why the genital herpes virus can be caused by herpes simplex type 1 or 2.
